For some time Thorney Abbey has been looking at the possible removal of the large Sycamore Tree in the front corner of the Abbey Grounds.
All the permissions were granted and the work booked in – and quite a job it was, as you can see from the photos it was a lot of effort. If you look at the base you can see that the tree was rotten in the core of the trunk.
There was also a Victorian nail in the tree which the Chainsaw struck – ribena bottle for scale!
It certainly makes the view of the Abbey look a bit different!
