In an effort to try something new this year, the social committee at St.Matthew’s Church in Eye is holding an Advent Wreath Festival (with a difference).
The Mayor of Peterborough, John Fox, is formally opening the event.
As this is its first year, the church is hoping that it can establish a successful annual event, which will be visited by many people from far and wide and not just those living locally.
St. Mary Magdelene in Lincoln has an average of 7,000 visitors to its wreath festival each year (which is great a promotion opportunity for any contributors) and while we do not expect to gather such a wide audience, we will try to draw in as many as possible.
To start things off we will be hosting an open evening, with refreshments, on Wednesday 25th October in church, beginning at 7pm. Why not come along and find out more!
At this meeting, you will be able to see how to make a traditional wreath and you can also ask more questions about the event.
We hope that you will want to take part in this and be involved in the chance to promote your business, organisation or family and look forward to you joining in what we hope will become an annual fixture in the life of our village.
There will be an event preview for exhibitors on Friday 1st December at 7pm with mulled wine and mince pies. Following this there will be a traditional blessing of the wreaths before opening to the general public on Saturday.
